Local YCC manager honored for engaging youth

The YCC is a youth employment program that provides an opportunity for young men and women of diverse backgrounds to learn new skills while participating in outdoor work projects that preserve National Forest System land and will benefit the local area for decades to come.
After beginning his career as a member of the Youth Conservation Crews, Dunsmuir’s Marcus Nova, who now works on the Forest Service’s Shasta McCloud Management Unit and manages the YCC program was recognized Dec. 11 with an award for engaging youth.
In addition to Assistant Recreation Officer Nova’s Regional Forester Honor Award, the Trinity Divide Land Acquisition Team accepted the award for Partnership of the Year during the 2019 Region 5 Regional Forester Honor Awards.
